Well I was working in Pottstown, PA and Kati flew into Philadelphia Friday night. We had an eye on the weather the entire time as Boston and the north east was supposed to get the storm of the century.
She got into the airport about 8pm and we started to drive. We figured we would try to get to Hazelton, PA along Interstate 80 which is about 2 hours away.
We did make it to Hazelton, but it took us 3 1/2 hours as the snow was coming down pretty hard and traffic never got over 40 miles an hour.
We stayed over night in Hazelton and then headed to Clearfield the next morning. We got into town, bought some wine and some bread from the downtown bakery and headed to my parents house. Cousins Skip and Janet, along with my sister Marie were already there and ready to eat as we entered the house. We had a fun time and it was really nice to have everyone together.
The weather was always a factor and we left the next day and headed back towards Philly staying in Lancaster. Since our flight was not until 3pm the next day, we explored some of the Amish Country. The flights were a bit of a nightmare, as ours was delayed, we missed the connected in Charlotte and we didnt get home until 2AM. All in all it was still a great trip, seeing Dad on his birthday and having Kati fly up.
Michael and Kati started this online travel journal mostly for our friends and family. Also, we hope this is an inspiration for those that love to travel and want to explore the world. If you ever see us, just say hi, as we love to meet new people, explore new places and learn about new cultures.
